چکیده

Gammaand X-rays resulting from radioactive decays provide a potentially powerful tool to investigate the explosion physics of supernovae, since the distribution and the amount of radioactive isotopes are strongly dependent on properties of the explosion. In this paper, expected features of these high energy emissions are presented for bipolar jet-induced explosion models, which are recently favored for very energetic supernovae and even for typical Type Ib/c supernovae. It is shown that combination of various observations, i.e., line-to-continuum ratio, photoelectric absorption cut-off energy, line profiles and luminosities, allows the unique determination of the explosion energy, the amount of radioactive Ni, the explosion geometry, and even the viewing orientation. Unified 1-d Simulations of Gamma-ray Line Emission from Type Ia Supernovae

The light curves of Type Ia Supernovae (SN Ia) are powered by gamma-rays emitted by the decay of radioactive elements such as 56 Ni and its decay products. These gamma-rays are downscattered, absorbed, and eventually reprocessed into the optical emission which makes up the bulk of all supernova observations. Detection of the gamma-rays that escape the expanding star provide the only direct mean...

Jet-Induced Explosions of Core Collapse Supernovae

We numerically studied the explosion of a supernova caused by supersonic jets present in its center. The jets are assumed to be generated by a magneto-rotational mechanism when a stellar core collapses into a neutron star. We simulated the process of the jet propagation through the star, jet breakthrough, and the ejection of the supernova envelope by the lateral shocks generated during jet prop...

Gamma-Ray emission from SN2014J near maximum optical light

Context. The optical light curve of Type Ia supernovae (SNIa) is powered by thermalized gamma-rays produced by the decay of Ni and Co, the main radioactive isotopes synthesized by the thermonuclear explosion of a C/O white dwarf. Aims. Gamma-rays escaping the ejecta can be used as a diagnostic tool for studying the characteristics of the explosion. In particular, it is expected that the analysi...

We report 139 photometric observations through the B, V, and I filters of the supernova SN 1998bw, an object which is associated with the Gamma-Ray Burst GRB 980425. Detailed light curves of this unique supernova can be compared to theoretical models, so we report here our light curve for 123 days between 27 June 1998 and 28 October 1998. The light curve of SN 1988bw is consistent with those of...

Constraints on the progenitor systems of type Ia supernovae

UVOIR bolometric light curves provide a valuable insight into the nature of type Ia supernovae. We present an analysis of sixteen well-observed SNe Ia. Constraints are placed on several global parameters concerning the progenitor system, explosion mechanism and subsequent radiation transport. By fitting a radioactive decay energy deposition function to the quasiexponential phase (50 to 100 days...
